To help keep all pupils safe, please ensure the school has up-to-date information about any allergies your child may have. Accurate allergy information enables us to put appropriate support plans in place, train staff effectively, and respond quickly in an emergency. We all have a part to play in creating a safe environment, including following our nut-aware policy and being mindful of the food brought into school. If your child has an allergy, please contact the school or update their details via Arbor. Be Allergy Aware and Save A Life - see more here.

Year 4

Hello and welcome to Year 4

At New Horizons Primary School we have 2 rights.

  • The right to be safe and the responsibility to follow school and classroom rules.
  • The right to learn and the responsibility to use our learning heroes.

Reading and Writing

Children in Year 4 may listen to and discuss a variety of stories, non- fiction texts, poetry, plays and textbooks in order to understand that texts are structured in different ways and written for different purposes.

In Year 4, your child will work on ironing out any Standard English mistakes such as ‘I were’ instead of ‘I was’, ‘I did’ instead of ‘I done’ and using apostrophes to mark plural possession.
